1939 Recording King M2
SOLD | This is a fun guitar to play and a great value. These guitars were manufactured by Gibson in Kalamazoo and sold under the Recording Kind brand through Montgomery Ward in the 1930s. Quality instruments at a budget price. Nothing against the RK Chinese guitars of nowadays, but you will excuse us if we say the concept of ‘quality on a budget’ has gone downhill (very much so!) since the late ’30s. Solid spruce top, birch back and sides, mahogany neck, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, 3 on a plate tuners and one of the coolest headstocks you can imagine. The back and sides have been refinished (decent job) but fortunately the very nice sunburst top is original and pristine. Dry, cutting tone that is perfect for backing up a swing band or playing Charlie Christian licks. A fun guitar that will provide vintage tone and will not break the bank. Comes with a very nice, old (though not original) hard case.
