MATERIALS

TOPS | all our guitars come with moon logged and air dried European (red) spruce (i.e. Picea Abies) top and braces.

BACK AND SIDES | back and sides are offered in a selection of tonewoods, including Honduras mahogany, flamed or quilted maple from the Balkans, Old Stock Indian Rosewood, Madagascar Rosewood or Brazilian Rosewood. Due to the scarcity of good quality, certified Brazilian Rosewood, we cannot guarantee availability – please inquire. We can also offer alternative tonewoods upon request.

NECK | for necks, we use Honduras mahogany. When philologically correct, we also offer the choice of maple or poplar (e.g. many wartime Gibson necks were built out of poplar or birch, instead of mahogany).

FINGERBOARD AND BRIDGE | we use either ebony or Brazilian rosewood, depending on whichever wood species is correct for the specific model of guitar.

STANDARD FEATURES | all our guitars come with all hide glue construction, pure nitrocellulose lacquer finish, celluloid pickguard applied to bare wood and finished over, celluloid and/or wood bindings and purflings, non-adjustable neck rod (a selection of Martin-style steel T-bar or a maple V bar in the banner Gibson style), bone nut and saddle, Waverly or Antique Acoustics tuning machines, Antique Acoustics bridge pins and end pin.

SPECIFICATIONS

Although we usually recommend that customers stick to the specifications typical of the vintage model that we’re replicating, we can accommodate any requests in terms of nut width / spacing and saddle width / spacing (within the limits of what technically feasible), as well as neck profile (shape and thickness).

Also, we can accommodate any preference over fret wire size (width and height), although we will suggest what we think works best for the specific guitar and playing style.
