2014 Bagnasco&Casati Brazilian Rosewood J-45

SOLD | 2014 Bagnasco&Casati Brazilian Rosewood Banner J-45 replica. We recently got this one-of-a-kind banner J-45 replica in, on consignment from the original owner, a well known player-collector who’s going through a right-sizing process of his enviable guitar herd. Plus, he’s got another B&C on order, so this one goes for sale to make a very happy next owner. That is a sure thing. This guitar is our standard model 45, but with an amazing set of Brazilian rosewood back and sides, instead of the standard Honduras mahogany. Brazilian of this quality is so hard to find nowadays that it almost doesn’t exist. Superb wood coming from an old stash dating back to the ’50s (if not earlier), straight grained and quarter sawn.

Not only it looks amazing, but it sounds better than it looks. It’s got all the punch and depth of great Brazilian with the clarity and dryness of tone that makes great sets of Brazilian so coveted. People who know what we’re talking about will understand: it’s dry like a mahogany guitar, but bigger and deeper. Condition of this guitar is close to mint. Just a few very minor nicks and scratches coming from light playing – ‘almost new’ condition is an appropriate description. We’re sure this guitar will please the most demanding of players in the tone and playability departments. Someone looking for a bona-fide J-45 on steroids will love this guitar and make it a life companion, as it will develop and grow in complexity of tone as it will get the playing it deserves.

For the quality of the Brazilian, this comes at what we regard as a ‘bargain’ price, only because it lacks CITES certification. The Brazilian was cut and sourced from our supplier decades before CITES was even conceived, then stored away for ages and never applied for CITES documentation when the opportunity was given at CITES introduction. Plus, it’s readily available and if you come visit us you can even try before you buy. Which makes it even more attractive, especially for fellow Europeans. Come visit the Italian Riviera and take a souvenir back with you. This guitar will not disappoint.
